Quim Torra did not joke about his family when he said that practically "everyone is signed up for a CDR". The President's nephew, Ernest Morell Torra, has been arrested along with fifteen other activists for breaking into the ADIF facilities, occupying the roads of the Girona AVE (High-speed train) and stopping the traffic of the town, causing delays to many users as part of the actions of the CDRs. Ernest Morell is affiliated with the CUP, the most radical party of the independence coalition, which in a tweet defines its affiliate as "Cupaire, Ratafiaire (in allusion to the alcoholic beverage that the president promotes) and much more."
The arrest took place this Wednesday early in the afternoon, although the president's nephew has been released on charges shortly after. The CUP has demanded "the release of Ernest, kidnapped by the regime" despite the fact that he was only taken to the police station and allowed to leave without further ado.
It is known that Quim Torra has directly and explicitly encouraged the CDRs to persist in their actions, even after their violent and illegal behavior is proven, so it's to be expected that their political opponents will not miss the opportunity to ask for explanations for the conduct of these groups that do not respond to any authority.
